El Salvador

September 25th, Day 50 – Despite what I’ve heard, I had a fun time in El Salvador. Not enough fun to stay more than 2 nights, but still fun.

I met a very nice El Salvadorian guy on the bus from Guatemala who gave me numerous pointers on where to go and what to avoid. Following his advice, I went to a pretty nice area of San Salvador that was very clean and modern. It had an epic strip/indoor mall that was somewhat awful in one way yet impressive in another. The next morning, I walked around the city centre for a few hours and that was all I needed. I caught a cab to the bus station and headed down to San Miguel which is on route to Honduras.

Again, the town wasn’t so great. I must say though, amidst all the pollution, fumes, and trash, I found an amazing place for liquados (smoothies). At night, the city gives off a little bit of an unfriendly vibe, so I tried to go to a bar. However, all I could find were strip clubs. They are something else in this town!
